Searching for hidden hangouts is one of my favorite things to do in this city I’ve been fortunate enough to call home for the last decade. Our good friend Hep is to thank for showing us this super cool secret bunker hiding in plain sight at one of the most popular parks in West Vancouver.
Lighthouse Park sees many daily visitors. There are a number of trails to hike, oceanfront spots to picnic at, and view points in which to take in the stunning sunsets.
Most people coming to Lighthouse Park tend to stick to the well beaten paths, though. And unfortunately for them, that means missing out on this unique hangout spot.
I’m not going to give you the exact instructions to get to the secret bunker. Trust me when I say you’ll feel a greater sense of accomplishment when you find it somewhat on your own. Plus these pictures below should be more than sufficient in guiding you in the right direction.
If you really require more help finding this spot, then check out this post here on Bored in Vancouver’s website.
Wear comfy shoes and expect to scale a few rocks. Depending on if the tide is in or out, you may get your feet a little wet. It’s worth it, though.
If you bring food and drinks (recommended), carry your trash out with you when you leave. For the most part, people are respectful of this secret bunker. But there’s still those few inconsiderate folks who visit and fail to heed the “leave it as you found it” rule. It’s those people that make it difficult for us to want to share hidden hangouts and cool local spots with others.
So don’t be those people, okay?!
Vancouver is such an awesome city with a plethora of things to do that go above and beyond the obvious Capilano Suspension Bridge and biking the Stanley Park Seawall. Y’know, those usual “must-do” tourist lists you find online that all offer the same ten activities.
We look forward to sharing more of these hidden gems with you over the coming months so you too can experience the Vancouver that us locals love.
